THE LEATHER
Cognac Teton Stag is derived from North American White Tail Deer and tanned by Gallun Leathers in Wisconsin — who have been in the tanning business since 1858, innovating novel approaches to calf, wild boar, and now White Tail Deer. Working from a non-heavy metal tannage for this leather has resulted in a soft, supple leather that exhibits the qualities you may know from buckskin, while unique changes to tanning bring out a more full-bodied leather. This Cognac version is going to be in a similar range of color as our Coach Rambler, rusty oranges and deep browns blush across the boot with a tendency to lighten in the heel from lasting.
These exceptional hides embrace a rich variability. Like ramblers, kudu and horse rump we've run before, the boots will be one of a kind, with fluctuating levels of grain from pair to pair. Our skilled cutter specifically cuts each pair together, so that while the boots may vary within a run, each individual pair is beautifully matched.
